Good evening, GMS families! We'll be celebrating our 8th grade students with a convocation ceremony tomorrow morning at 9 AM in the North Gym at Gering Middle School. Students are encouraged to wear dress clothes. Families are welcome to attend, and the west doors will open at 8:45 AM. After the ceremony, 8th grade students are free to leave for the day. Students may return to school between 12:15-2:15 PM for the GMS Block Party if desired. Eighth grade students do not need to attend school on Thursday, May 22. Congratulations, 8th graders...you'll be missed! Have a great last day and a wonderful summer!

8th Grade Families, Please see below for important end-of-year dates. Lots is happening as we celebrate your student's journey through GMS. please join us when possible, and never hesitate to call the front office with questions! May 12 - GMS Band Concert - Grades 6-8 Gering High School Auditorium, 7 PM May 13 - 8th Grade Science Fair (All 8th Graders) GMS North Gym, 5:30-8:30 PM. Families welcome to attend! May 15 - GMS Jazz Band Tour (Jazz Band Students Only) Will visit each GPS elementary school, 12:30-3:00 PM May 16 - 8th Grade Class Trip to Elitch Gardens in Denver, CO (8th Grade Only) Depart from GMS at 5:30 AM, Return between 8:00-9:00 PM $34 per student (lunch included in price). Submit money to GMS office. If students don't plan to attend the trip, they may stay home for the day as 8th grade teachers will not be at school that day since they will be chaperoning the trip. If financial assistance is needed to cover the cost of the trip, please contact the front office. May 21 - 8th Grade Convocation (8th Grade Only) GMS North Gym - 9:00 AM. Families encouraged to attend. 8th grade students are dismissed after the ceremony with parent permission. LAST DAY FOR 8TH GRADE. May 21 - GMS Block Party (Grades 6-8) GMS West Lawn, 12:15-2:15. Food trucks available if students wish to purchase items. 8th graders are welcome to return GMS for the Block Party.

📢 8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip Meeting There will be an informational meeting for the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip on Thursday, May 15th at 6:00 PM in the GMS Commons Area. We look forward to seeing you there!

🎭 On April 29th, the GMS Drama Club took the stage with their hilarious and creative performance of "Shakespeare's Got Talent" — and what a show it was! 👏 Huge shoutout to Ms. Jensen and all the talented students who brought the show to life. You all did a fabulous job — bravo! 🌟

In April and May, we had the pleasure of celebrating Assistant Principal and Principal Appreciation Days—and here at GMS, we’re lucky to have two of the very best! 🎉 A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Hutchison and Mr. Wiedeman for your outstanding leadership, unwavering support, and dedication to our students and staff. Your guidance continues to make GMS a great place to learn and grow. To show our appreciation, the GMS staff surprised them with awesome matching Bulldog shirts! 💙 Thank you both for everything you do!
