Tech Outage

GHS Student Password Update

Gering High School will be updating student passwords as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the security of student accounts and school technology systems.

What’s happening?

Beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31, students will not be able to log in to or use their school Chromebooks. During this time, they will also be unable to access:

  • Google Email

  • Google Classroom

  • Infinite Campus

  • Other school accounts and district systems

Student Chromebooks will not be functional during the outage.

When will students get their new passwords?

Students will receive their new passwords during 1st period on Tuesday, September 1.

Students who do not have a 1st period class can pick up their new password from the media center or front office during the school day.

Once students receive their new password, they will be able to access their school accounts again.

Why are we making this change?

This update is part of our ongoing efforts to keep student accounts and school systems secure. The new process will help us:

  • Strengthen student account security.

  • Better align with current cybersecurity recommendations.

  • Ensure student accounts and access are connected to active enrollment.

What if I have a college class?

We know some students take college classes and may need access to technology outside of the regular school day. GHS teachers will work to ensure students do not need their school technology on the evening of Monday, August 31.

Students should also plan ahead and save or download any materials they may need before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31.

Thank you for your patience as we make these important updates to better protect student accounts and keep our systems secure.
