We know families have been asked to keep track of a lot of different apps, platforms, logins and codes to stay connected to school. We want to make that easier.
This year, Gering Public Schools is moving classroom-level communication from Remind to the Gering Schools App, powered by Apptegy. Our goal is simple: fewer apps, fewer codes and one more consistent place to connect with your child's school.
What does this mean for families?
The Gering Schools App will give families a central place to receive classroom-level updates and communication from teachers and schools. Instead of downloading another app or remembering another classroom code for Remind, families can use the same Gering Schools App they are already using to access district and school information.
You can still expect important district and school communications such as newsletters, reminders and emergency notifications through our existing communication systems. The biggest change is that classroom communication that has traditionally happened through Remind will now move into the Gering Schools App.
Why are we making the change?
For years, families have told us that managing multiple communication platforms can be frustrating. We hear you.
Our goal is to create a stronger, more connected experience for families by consolidating communication whenever we can rather than continuing to add another app every time a new communication need comes along.
This is the first step. We are starting with classroom communication this year, and our long-term goal is to continue looking for opportunities to bring other areas of school communication and activities together as well.
What should I do?
Download the Gering Schools App. Once you're connected, you'll be able to login to receive communication from the schools and classrooms connected to your student. Reach out to your school or district off with any questions.
We also encourage families to keep notifications turned on so you don't miss important updates.
We know changing communication systems takes a little adjustment, but we believe one connected platform is better than a collection of apps, passwords and classroom codes.
