Dual Credit

GERING, Neb. (May 15, 2026): Out of 134 graduates in the Gering High School Class of 2026, two students, just 1.5% of the graduating class, achieved dual graduate status this year.

Brothers Frost and Bridger Wallace graduated not only with their high school diplomas from Gering High School, but also with Associate of Science degrees in Collision Repair and Refinish Technology through a partnership with Western Nebraska Community College.

The twins already crossed the stage to receive their college degrees during the WNCC commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, and will now celebrate their high school graduation with the Gering High School Class of 2026 this Saturday.

Frost and Bridger were recently honored during a special media event recognizing their achievement as the third and fourth dual graduates in Gering Public Schools history. Representatives from both Gering Public Schools and WNCC were on hand to celebrate the milestone, including WNCC President Greg Dart and CollegeNOW! Director Jennifer Pedersen.

The accomplishment reflects years of dedication, long hours, and a commitment to balancing rigorous college coursework alongside the full experience of being active high school students.

“This accomplishment required more than simply taking extra classes,” said Gering High School Principal Mario Chavez. “It meant balancing college courses, technical training, athletics, activities, and the responsibilities that come with being engaged members of our high school community. Frost and Bridger truly embraced every opportunity in front of them.”

While completing college-level coursework, both students remained actively involved at Gering High School. Frost participated in the district’s Public Safety Academy, volunteered with the local fire department, competed in wrestling, and both brothers represented the Bulldogs in tennis.

District leaders say the milestone also reflects the expanded opportunities available to students through dual credit partnerships.

In 2021, Gering Public Schools expanded college and career pathway opportunities through a strengthened partnership with Western Nebraska Community College, increasing access to 33 dual credit and college-connected courses.

“Frost and Bridger’s success represents exactly what we hope for our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Nicole Regan. “They challenged themselves, remained involved in their school and community, and demonstrated what is possible when opportunity is matched with hard work.”

Beyond academics, district leaders emphasized the character and leadership both students displayed throughout their journey.

“They are outstanding young men who represent Gering with pride,” Chavez said. “Their work ethic, humility, and commitment to others have made a lasting impact on our school community.”

The Class of 2026 will graduate Saturday at Five Rocks Amphitheater.
