HVAC

Gering Public Schools began a major construction project in the Gering High School auditorium after multiple air handling units became non-operational, impacting the building’s ability to properly heat, cool, and ventilate the space. This work was not part of the 2017 bond project, but is instead funded through the district’s special building fund, designated specifically for facility maintenance and improvements.

The project began in July 2025 and is expected to continue through August 2026. The scope of work includes a full replacement of the auditorium’s air handler units and HVAC system, addressing critical mechanical needs and ensuring long-term reliability. In addition, the project includes:

  • Updates to the production booth, improving functionality and visibility

  • Cosmetic improvements throughout the auditorium

Throughout construction, Gering Public Schools remains committed to ensuring students can continue to participate fully in the performing arts. We are grateful for the flexibility, creativity, and dedication of our performing arts educators, whose leadership has allowed rehearsals and performances to continue this school year.

The district is committed to hosting the GHS spring musical, and we are excited to share the official show reveal video as we bring our Seussical the Musical. We are also thankful for the continued partnership with the Midwest Theater, which has helped ensure performances can proceed as planned while construction is underway.

We appreciate the ongoing support as we responsibly invest in maintaining and improving district facilities. Regular updates will continue to be shared as the project progresses.
