GHS students have the opportunity to learn and become a part of a rich history, which starts the moment they step through the door. This environment is then cultivated on the strength of an amazing student body, staff and surrounding community. Students can immerse themselves in rigorous academic schedules, participate in championship level athletic programs, and be a part of numerous extracurricular activities and/ or organizations. Honoring Individual Paths
Gering High School an enrollment of over 600 students in the heart of our Gering community. As we prepare students for postsecondary life, we understand that each student's path is different. The “real world” starts today. Through the programming, multiple resources, activities, and opportunities GHS provides, students can leave campus prepared to join, thrive, and lead within society. Compound that with the opportunity for students to accelerate their futures by earning college credit while attending GHS. Flexible curriculum options allow any student to work both in the traditional classroom setting and through work-based learning. Gering is the place for opportunity and achievement.
From award winning organizations and excellent academic programs to tremendous school spirit and athletic teams, Gering High School is big enough for every student to explore opportunities and small enough to find his/her perfect fit.
Highly Engaged Team
A professional staff of more than 65 educators and staff serve GHS students. Gering High School staff cultivate an environment where students have the support to explore more of who they are as individuals. As students desire more independence and autotomy, the committed team at GHS is there to help students learn, grow, prepare and empower themselves for the next stage of life.
Our athletic department offers a variety of options in sports for varsity, junior varsity athletes such as basketball, cheerleading, dance, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling. A student will not only feel the support of the school but the community as well. Strong relationships exist among businesses in the Gering community and the school district. These positive working relationships allow unique learning opportunities.
Academic Opportunities
Gering High School stands above other area schools due to unique course offerings and co-curricular opportunities. Our award-winning STEM programming offers incredible project-based learning while cultivating real world math, technology, engineering and science skills. Students can expect rigor throughout core subjects, access to college-level dual credit courses and seek relevant career-centered learning through elective pathway courses. GHS Career Pathways align with the Nebraska Department of Education and continue to grow each year as we stay in-tune with business and industry partners.
