Gering High School

Distracted Driving PSA

Gering High School Student Council and Media Production class team up to promote safe driving.

During the month of February Student Council and Media production class coordinated with various emergency services to produce a simulated crash scene for the filming of a public service announcement. The goal was to promote the use of seat belts and discourage distracted driving. Media Production student and Gering High School senior, Deacon Dameron, produced this high quality behind the scenes video to highlight the planning and production of the 2 minute PSA.

Behind the Scenes Video:

Students in Media production class used footage from 4 cameras to produce a 2 minute, 1 minute, and 30 second PSA and distributed it to local and regional television outlets as well as social media. The Gering volunteer fire department provided a car, the city of Gering provided a loader to flip the car, and other emergency services that helped include: Regional West Medical Center, AirLink, and the Nebraska State Patrol.
