Gering High School Featured in National Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 10th Anniversary Video

Gering High School was recently featured in a video produced by Samsung Electronics America promoting the 10th Anniversary of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest.  The video highlights the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs in Gering and documents the impact that winning the national contest in 2017 and being named a national finalist in 2018 has had on schools in Gering.  

According to Samsung Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs, Dr. David Steel, "Samsung started Solve for Tomorrow ten years ago, and over those ten years, the most winning school in the country out of 20,000 entries is Gering High School."  Dr. Steel announced during an assembly in October with Gering students and staff that, in recognition of the work being done in Gering, Samsung as made a gift to the school for an additional $10,000 to be used in support of STEM education.

Gering High School has won over $300,000 in equipment during their three years of participation in Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow program while winning three consecutive state titles, making two national finals appearances, and winning the national competition in 2017.  In 2019, Gering has once again been named a state finalist.

Gering's STEM program has been led by teachers and .  The program has grown from just seven students in 2017 to about 147 students in 2019.
