Gering Public Schools deems the professional expertise of teaching as a comprehensive progression that is intellectually, emotionally, and extensively complex. Therefore, the development for teacher supervision and evaluation should be genuine, evidence-based, and explicitly reflect the authentic work of teachers. The GPS teacher supervision and evaluation process is intended as a growth experience as well as a constructive and insightful progression that uses collaboration to enhance instructional effectiveness and boost student learning.

The Gering Public Schools Teacher Supervision and Evaluation Process is founded on professional authentic trust and cooperation. The procedure divides the multifaceted work of teaching into four major domains: Planning and Preparation, The Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities.

Evaluation of certificated employees on their skills, abilities, and competence shall be an ongoing process supervised by the building principal/supervisor and conducted by an approved evaluator. The goal of the formal evaluation of certificated employees, other than administrators, shall be to improve the educational program, to improve instruction, to maintain certificated employees who meet or exceed the board's standards of performance, to clarify the certificated employee's role, to ascertain the areas in need of improvement, and to develop a working relationship between the administrators and other employees. The process of evaluation of certificated employees will adhere to Gering Public Schools Policy 406.8.

Certified Evaluation Process

Classified:

Evaluation of classified staff on their skills, abilities, and competence shall be an ongoing process supervised by the superintendent. The goal of the formal evaluation of classified staff shall be to maintain classified staff who meet or exceed the Board's standards of performance, to clarify each classified staff member's role, to ascertain the areas in need of improvement, to clarify the immediate priorities of the board, and to develop a working relationship between the administrators and other employees. The classified evaluation process will adhere to Gering Public Schools Policy 412.7.
