5th Grade Math Essential Skills
Our goal is for your child to be able to do the following by the end of 5th Grade:
1. Student will read, write, and compare whole numbers and decimals to thousandths
2. Student will multiply a three digit number by a three digit number
3. Student will divide using two digit divisions
4. Students will understand and apply metric units
5. Student will use problem solving strategies to solve word problems
6. Student will add and subtract fractions with common and uncommon denominators
7. Student will compare and order fractions and decimals using <, >, =
8. Students will recognize and classify various geometric terms and shapes
9. Student will demonstrate a basic understanding of measurement and geometric measurement
10. Student will understand graphs, charts, tables, grids, and calculators
